SUSHI KIKU 2770 LENOX ROAD NE, ATLANTA, 30324 404-467-4544

KIKUJAPANESE.COM I have been going to Sushi Kiku for about five years now, and just knew I had to feature it on my blog. You have probably driven past it a million times and never noticed it since it is discretely tucked away in a small strip mall on Lenox road. They also have other locations around the city. You may want to make a reservation, but I usually have no problem getting seated right away. I consider it one of the best sushi spots in Atlanta, so with that being said, let the critique begin! ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere in Sushi Kiku is warm, yet chic. The tables are spaced relatively close together, but still give enough room to be comfortable. The dim lights give the space an intimate feel, but still appropriate for a casual meal. There is a full sushi bar you can sit at and watch your rolls being made by the amazing Itamaes (sushi chefs). The main back wall is painted a rich sky blue color and features butterflies and stars which gives Sushi Kiku a unique feel. They play current top 100 chart music which also adds to the good vibe. They also have a full service bar.

SERVICE: The service at Sushi Kuki is overall pretty good. The staff is always friendly and prompt most of the time. They will bring you whatever extras you need (soy sauce, eel sauce, duck sauce, etc.) to accompany your sushi without an issue. If the manager is there, she will always come to your table and make sure everything is up to standard. Sometimes you may find yourself having to remind the staff of something they forgot to bring, but if this happens they always apologize and act promptly. The real stars of the restaurant are the Itamaes (sushi chefs). They are always extremely friendly and entertaining. They will also customize any roll to your liking upon request. Authors Note: when I told them I would be featuring them on my blog they were ecstatic. They pulled out props and were posing. They even went and got a salmon head for me to photograph!

FOOD: Now here is what we all have been waiting for! The star of the show! First off, let me start off by saying I have NEVER had a bad sushi roll here. But if sushi is just not your thing, you are still in luck. They have a full menu of appetizers, soups and salads, a hibachi entrée menu which features chicken, seafood, and steak dishes which are all equally delicious. But since I am a sushi lover/addict I will be focusing on that. They have a full menu of nigiri and your typical sushi rolls such as California roll, spicy tuna roll, etc. They also have a specialty roll menu, which in my opinion, is the way to go!

When I visit, I always start off with the house salad with ginger dressing. Let me say, this is by far the BEST ginger dressing I have ever had in my life. It is not your typical ginger dressing. It is cream based, which makes it thick and rich. I often ask them for a cup of it to go so I can put it on my salads at home. It is addicting and a must try.

Next comes the sushi rolls. I have my favorites off of the specialty roll menu, and two of those include the Super Alaskan roll and the Rock & Roll roll. The seafood is always extremely fresh and flavorful. The rice is cooked properly and is always the correct firmness, and has a nice sticky texture. Lastly, the vegetables are always crisp. The balance of the cream cheese and avocado is wonderful and creates a creamy feel as you eat it. As stated before, I have never gotten a bad sushi roll from here, so explore the menu and find what best fits you!

PRICE: The price might be the best part of Sushi Kiku! 7 days a week, for dine in dinner, all rolls are 50% off, yes 50% OFF! You seriously cannot beat that. Last night my salad and two sushi rolls came to a total of $19. And for lunch, 7 days a week, they have an all you can eat buffet for $13-14. It features several of their entrée items, many of their specialty sushi rolls, nigiri, an entire salad bar, and a dessert bar. You cannot beat the price and quality of Sushi Kiku! FINAL GRADE: Based on all of the following criteria discussed above I give Sushi Kiku an A-. They have a warm atmosphere, overall decent service, and amazing food for an affordable price. Next time you are in the Buckhead area you MUST stop and eat at Sushi Kiku!
